Kansas City police investigate 2 separate homicides overnight

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department detectives are investigating two separate homicides overnight. At 3:45 a.m. Monday, officers were called to the area of 57th Street and Swope Parkway due to the sound of gunfire. While officers were en route, a shooting was reported at a residence at 57th Street and Mersington avenue, according to KCPD.

Triple shooting at Power & Light District to start 4th of July holiday

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Police are investigating a triple shooting from early Monday morning in the Power & Light District. No one was killed. Officers responded just after midnight to a report of a shooting at 13th Street and Grand Boulevard. Arriving authorities assessed the situation and found that three people had been shot. Two victims were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, while a third was grazed and did not want treatment, according to the Kansas City Police Department.

Lawrence man drowns at Lone Star Lake

An 81-year-old Lawrence man was found in the water at Lone Star Lake early Monday, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. “Deputies were notified just after 6:30 a.m. Monday that a boater at Lone Star Lake found a man unresponsive in the water,” George Diepenbrock, spokesperson for DGSO, said via email. “The man was brought to shore, and life-saving measures were unsuccessful.”
