Abilene officer among latest KLETC basic graduates

Twenty-four new law enforcement officers graduated from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC) on Friday at a ceremony held in the KLETC Integrity Auditorium. Deputy Charles Wheaton of the Edwards County Sheriff’s Office was the graduating class president. The speaker for the ceremony was Chief Courtney Prewitt of the Garden City Police Department. Mike Satterlee, KLETC Senior Instructor of Police, was the Class Coordinator for the 291st Basic Training Class.

Edwards Co. Undersheriff arrested

EDWARDS COUNTY – On Monday, special agents of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation arrested the Edwards County Undersheriff related to a domestic violence incident. On Sunday, Sept. 26, at approximately 7:40 p.m., a 911 call was made from a residence in Kinsley. When a deputy from the Edwards County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene, he learned that Robert “Bobby” Blackwell, 39, of Kinsley, who is the Edwards County Undersheriff, was involved in a physical altercation. At approximately 8:15 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office contacted the KBI to investigate the incident.

The undersheriff of a south-central county in Kansas has been arrested in connection to a domestic violence incident over the weekend. The Kansas Bureau of Investigations says in a news release that Edwards County Undersheriff Robert “Bobby” Blackwell, 39, was arrested Monday for aggravated domestic battery. The KBI says that an Edwards County deputy responding Sunday evening to a 911 call made from a home in Kinsley learned that Blackwell was involved in a physical altercation.
