An Edgemont, S.D., man has been identified as the person who died Sunday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash east of Edgemont. Preliminary crash information indicates that a 2011 Toyota Tundra was eastbound on U.S. Highway 18 when it slowed down to make a left-hand turn onto Red Canyon Road. The Toyota was rear-ended by an eastbound 2008 GMC Sierra pickup. The collision sent the Toyota into the westbound lane where it was struck by a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado Pickup and tipped over.

EDGEMONT, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Officials report one man died on the afternoon of May 23, in a three-vehicle crash east of Edgemont. Authorities say reports indicate a 2011 Toyota Tundra was eastbound on U.S. Highway 18 when it slowed down to make a left-hand turn onto Red Canyon Road. The Toyota was rear-ended by an eastbound 2008 GMC Sierra pickup. The collision sent the Toyota into the westbound lane where it was struck by a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado Pickup. The Toyota tipped over and the 57-year-old male driver of the Toyota, named Robert Stevens, was pronounced dead at the scene. Stevens was not wearing a seatbelt.

HOT SPRINGS – On Tuesday, June 7, area voters will go to the polls for the Primary Election to cast their selections for a number of city, county, state and national races. Over the next two weeks, the Fall River County Herald-Star will provide profiles of the various candidates on the ballot while featuring a different set of races each week. Two weeks ago, we featured the District 30 Senate candidates, along with those running for Hot Springs Mayor and Hot Springs Ward 1 City Council. Last week, we will took a look at the five Republicans on the primary ballot for the District 30 House of Representatives, as well as the lone Democratic candidate, Bret Swanson, who will be on the General Election ballot in November. The top two Republican vote-getters in the primary will join Swanson, with all of them vying for one of two seats.

March 6, 1965 - May 22, 2022. Robert W. (Bob) Stevens, of Edgemont, S.D., was tragically killed in a car accident on May 22, 2022 at the age of 57. Bob, Uncle Bob or “Bobbles” to those who loved him was born to Marlous and Edward Stevens on March 6, 1965 in Hot Springs and raised in Edgemont. Bob was forever young at heart. When asked, he was never a day over 21-ish, and it was evident in his love of dancing. Bob’s legacy is in the love he gave to his friends and family.
