Barton fire determined as arson

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On June 30, 2022, at approximately 1 pm the Barton Fire Department received a report of a structure fire located at 33 Vigario Lane in Barton, VT. The Barton Fire Department responded to the location and observed a fire on the outside of an attached garage. Fire suppression efforts were conducted. At the time of the fire the residence was occupied by 8 children and an adult, and no injuries were reported.

Brawl at Crystal Lake beach, police looking for unidentified suspect

BARTON — Police released a photo of a man they are trying to identify after a large brawl broke out in Barton this afternoon. State police and several other law enforcement agencies responded to a fight in progress, involving up to 18 people, at the Crystal Lake state beach.

Man arrested for arson in Barton home fire

WATERBURY, Vt. (WCAX) - The Vermont State Police are marking a major anniversary Friday - 75 years of serving the state. State leaders established the Vermont State Police on July 1, 1947, in the aftermath of the disappearance of Paula Jean Welden, an 18-year-old Bennington College student who vanished the year before.
