Sharon Kennedy: It’s beginning to feel a lot like normal

The other day I stopped at BayMart in Brimley and filled my gas tank. When I walked into the store to pay, I was met with the overwhelmingly delicious fragrance of pizza! It’s been two years since the gas station sold warm pizza or other items where customers were free to open a display case and pick what they wanted whether it was a muffin fresh from the local bakery or a piece of pizza. The coffee machines were turned on, and we could help ourselves. Life as I had known it prior to COVID-19 seemed as close to normal as it could get.

Sharon Kennedy: Are you still feeling the love?

Mother’s Day has just past and I was wondering if all the mothers reading this are still feeling the love from their children. I hope so. I’m one of the lucky moms blessed with a daughter who shows her affection in many different ways. She’s thoughtful every day of the year, not just on the second Sunday in May. What I love most about her is her ability to forgive me for all the mistakes I made while raising her. As older parents, her father and I were undoubtedly stricter than we needed to be. Then as a single parent, I was trying to raise her as I had been raised, completing oblivious to the fact that the times had, indeed, changed.
