Maine Firefighters Host Motorcycle Ride to Help a Boy With Cancer

The Red Knights Motorcycle Club is hosting a charity motorcycle ride this weekend that will benefit a Brownville Elementary student with cancer. Garrett Armstrong is in the 3rd grade and should be thinking about getting back to class and seeing his friends. But he was recently diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and has started treatments once a week. Soon, that will turn into daily treatments that will continue for two years. While I'm sure he's still looking forward to school, his Mom says he's already getting very drained by the treatments. Even so, Garrett tries to keep up with everything as much as he can.

MRC needs to learn from Cate Street mistake

I want to thank reporter Sawyer Loftus for the excellent article “Company helping restart Hampden trash plant has roots in failed Katahdin-area investor” in the Aug. 5 Bangor Daily News. As a citizen of East Millinocket, I cannot possibly imagine why anyone would ever partner (in any capacity) with a group that has received millions of dollars in support from Maine taxpayers without following up on their promises. I think one look at their resume and the numerous lawsuits filed against members of their leadership should be enough to disqualify them from any business dealings in Maine or elsewhere.

Broadband testing

The Towns of Lincoln, Howland and Enfield are currently working together researching grants that are available to improve high speed internet service throughout the three communities. But we need your HELP! We need residents who have this service to login and do a test to see what their current internet speed is at their residence or business. Please log in to https://www.mainebroadbandcoalition.org/ We need as many people as possible to test their internet service speed. The more people we have that do not have access to high-speed internet improves our scoring to qualify for federal and state monies through grants for improving the service in this area. The test only takes a couple of minutes and automatically logs your speed into a data base that will be used to determine where federal and state monies could be used to improve broadband here in the state of Maine.

Stay in a Tiny Home With Big Vibes at This Airbnb in Passadumkeag, Maine

Minimalism is the new norm. Simple means more these days and more and more people are starting to sell their things, purge what they don’t need, pack their stuff into tiny homes, vans, and busses, and live simply on the bare minimum. The trend of minimalism can even be seen with modern decor and company logos that take away the razzle-dazzle and strip things down to simplicity.
