QUINCY - A local man is recovering from his wound after he was struck by a vehicle in the city of Quincy last Saturday. Quincy Police say a pedestrian was crossing F Street in a crosswalk just after 7 p.m. when he was hit by a Honda Civic. Police say the pedestrian was hurt and suffered a head injury that resulted in him being transported to a local hospital for treatment.

WENATCHEE - Firefighters did some excavating in the Number 1 Canyon on Wednesday after a cat was reported to have been stuck in an underground culvert. The animal's owners say the cat had been missing for three days and its suspected that the feline was trapped in the pipe most of the time.

Leavenworth’s Development Services Department may require a bond be placed on building permits after seeing a 30% response rate on finalized permits. The city debuted their online permit tracking system in 2020 and just recently started accepting applications, including a new bond for Design Review Permits. They currently have a backlog of building permits, many failing to call for a final inspection.

WENATCHEE — Chelan County will pay more than $850,000 to build four new flood debris basins in Number One Canyon above Wenatchee. The basins are designed to catch debris and mud as it cascades down the canyon during heavy rain, like the storm that occurred on June 5th. Those events sometimes clog Wenatchee stormwater systems, and can threaten homes and streets in the city and its outskirts.

WENATCHEE — Catching a ride on a Link Transit bus will remain free of charge after the board renewed its zero-fare policy. Link Transit introduced a one-year, zero-fare pilot program in in July of last year after waiving its fares in March of 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic started. On Tuesday, the board of directors approved continuing to allow passengers to ride for free.

Governor Jay Inslee will visit the Wenatchee Valley Friday to make three stops. According to the Governor's Office, Inslee will start his visit in Cashmere for a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:00am at Beta Hatch. The company will be the largest mealworm producing facility in North America. The Department of Commerce provided almost $1 million for the project from its Clean Energy Fund, as mealworms are a less carbon-intensive alternative to traditional livestock feeds.

Zachary Miller, 38, of Leavenworth announced Wednesday he will no longer seek the District 2 commissioner seat being left by Bob Bugert.
