Police: Alcohol factor in deadly crash after man got out of vehicle on South Bay freeway

A San Jose man was killed after getting out of his vehicle following a freeway crash early Sunday near downtown San Jose, according to the California Highway Patrol. The man, 40, was driving a 1972 Chevy Impala that entered northbound I-280 from the 4th St. on-ramp and was crossing lanes when it was hit by a Toyota Prius about 2:20 a.m. When the vehicles ended up in the far-left lane and center median, the drivers got out of their cars.

A 60-year-old San Jose woman died Saturday in a head-on collision on Pacheco Pass in unincorporated Santa Clara County, the California Highway Patrol said. The crash between a Honda Fit subcompact hatchback and a 2015 Chrysler 200 sedan was reported around 11:15 a.m. on state Highway 152 just west of Lovers Lane, according to the CHP.

San Jose Police Release Video Of Suspect’s Car In 2018 Khan Kieu Cold Case Murder

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) — Hoping to generate new leads, cold case homicide investigators released home surveillance video Monday of the suspect’s car connected to the brazen 2018 murder of Khan Kieu inside his San Jose home. According to police, the slaying took place at 1:23 p.m. on June 21st, 2018, in a home on Misty Glen Court. Three males were in a black Lexus ES350 sedan when it pulled up in front of the home. They hurriedly got out of the Lexus, forced their way into the home and the heavyset driver fatally shot Kieu. They then fled the scene. It does not appear that robbery was the motive. Police also released an image of the suspect vehicle. 2 Arrested In Fremont Shooting Following Police Chase

FREMONT (CBS SF) — Two men suspected in a shooting last week in a Fremont neighborhood were arrested after a police chase and forced stop of the fleeing suspects, police said Monday. The shooting happened July 28 at around 2:44 p.m. Locke Ct. in the city’s Northgate neighborhood in the area of Paseo Padre Pkwy. and Warwick Road. Fremont police said arriving officers found the victim had already been taken to a local trauma center and two suspects were believed to have fled the city. The victim was expected to survive. Woman dies in Highway 152 traffic collision

A 60-year-old woman died in a traffic collision on Highway 152 east of Gilroy July 31, according to authorities. About 11:15am, the California Highway Patrol received a call reporting a collision on State Route 152 just west of the intersection of Lover’s Lane in Santa Clara County. Upon arrival, CHP officers determined a two-vehicle collision had occurred, involving a 2015 Chrysler 200 and 2009 Honda Fit, according to a press release from the CHP.

Elderly Man Fatally Stabbed In San Francisco SoMa District; Suspect Surrenders At Police Station

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — A 76-year-old man was fatally stabbed Saturday in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood and a suspect has been arrested after coming to a police station to confess to the crime, police said. The suspect was identified as 30-year-old Ryan Souva of San Francisco. Police said Souva walked into the Richmond Station at 11:42 a.m. Saturday and told officers he wanted to be arrested because he had just stabbed someone inside an apartment. Souva was detained and officers who responded to the apartment on the 1500 block of Folsom street found the elderly victim dead inside the apartment from an apparent stab wound. His name was not immediately disclosed. Souva was booked into San Francisco County Jail on one count of murder. Three people shot in Oakland early Sunday

OAKLAND — Three people were shot in different areas of the city early Sunday, two in the Uptown District and the other in East Oakland, authorities said. The Uptown District shooting happened about 2:06 a.m. in the 1700 block of Telegraph Avenue and left a 20-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man with gunshot wounds to their upper torsos, authorities said. Their conditions were not immediately available.
