Police release name of woman whose body was found along OBX shore

KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. (WITN) - Police on the Outer Banks have released the name of the woman whose body was found along the shore in the Outer Banks earlier this week. Kill Devil Hills police say they found the body of 37-year-old Megan Perry, of Kill Devil Hills after she went missing in the ocean around 12:15 a.m. Thursday in the area of 1st Street.

Kill Devil Hills, N.C. — A 37-year-old woman drowned off the coast of the Outer Banks on Thursday around midnight, according to authorities. Megan Elaine Perry was swimming with her friend, a 31-year-old man, when both of them got caught up in a wave near 1st Street in Kill Devil Hills. After the man surfaced he did not see his friend, police said.

Robert Earl Lanier, 70, of Powells Point, NC passed suddenly on Wednesday, June 22, 2022. Bobby or Bob, depending on who you were, didn’t know a stranger. He moved his family, wife Margie, and children Kim Wentz (Charles), Chad Tomlin (Sabrina), and Larry Tomlin (Amber) down to the Outer Banks in 1980. From there he went on to build many of the homes on the OBX as a Master Carpenter. He served his community by working with Dare County EMS and as a Volunteer Firefighter in Kill Devil Hills and Manns Harbor.
