Michael Potter: Ways to minimize moisture loss in our landscapes

Earlier this week I had to be on the road for a professional association meeting that was held in Brownwood, Texas. I have made that journey many times over the years and always enjoyed seeing the countryside. I have made that trip both in the spring and in the winter in years past. This year, things did not look the same. You can tell we are in a drought is parts of Texas. Pastures and roadsides that are primarily green this time of year are either bare dirt or tan in color from the lack of water. I can only imagine the strain put on farmers and ranchers. We are fortunate that we have had some rainfall in our area. Although we are still behind for the year. There are things we can do to minimize moisture loss in our landscapes.
