Divers recover a driver from the Illinois River at Ottawa early Thursday. Police Chief Brent Roalson said, just before midnight, officers attempted a traffic stop at Norris and Canal. In so doing, though, the suspect drove away, going south on La Salle, across Veterans Bridge and entering Allen Park. Police witnessed the vehicle drive over a bank and into the river.

Ottawa police are investigating the case of a man found dead and floating in the Fox River Tuesday night. At about 6:45, police were sent to the river near the 100 block of East Jefferson Street. A woman pled guilty in Grundy County on Monday, June 27th. Jacqueline Moriarty, 32, of Joliet pled guilty to the unlawful possession of cocaine, a class four felony. As part of the blind plea agreement, the charge of bringing contraband into a penal institution and another drug possession charge were dropped.
