Announcer disgusted by Giancarlo Stanton home run in Yankees' 16-0 win over Pirates

The Pittsburgh Pirates were destroyed by the New York Yankees 16-0 on Wednesday, and Pittsburgh’s TV announcer was absolutely disgusted by the end. The game was actually a reasonable 5-0 score through seven innings. Then Manny Banuelos entered the game for the eighth and gave up a grand slam to Aaron Judge while being charged with five runs over 0.1 innings.

Judge, Hicks hit grand slams as Yankees pound Pirates 16-0

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Aaron Judge felt like he was “stuck” on 29 home runs for “a while.” Of course, “a while” is a relative term when it comes to the New York Yankees slugger. What Judge considered a drought of sorts was in reality a span of four games. One mighty swing put Judge back on track and helped the Yankees start the second half of their schedule with a bang. Judge sent a laser to the seats in left field in the eighth inning for his third career grand slam — and 30th homer of the season, most in the majors — as New York drilled the Pittsburgh Pirates 16-0 on Wednesday night to split their two-game interleague set.

California Area settles lawsuit against Cal U Student Association for $1.25M

California Area School District accepted a $1.25 million settlement from Cal U’s Student Association, Inc. in a suit the district filed claiming breach of contract. The school district filed the lawsuit against the Student Union Association Inc., in 2020 in Washington County Common Pleas Court. The California Area School Board approved the settlement at a meeting last month. The lawsuit contends that in September 2000, the SAI and the district entered into a contract that enabled the university to build student housing on a 10-acre plot of land in California while enjoying a tax-exempt status. The agreement was based on the SAI’s position that the property would be “subject to the Institutions of Purely Public Charity Act,” the suit states.

McKeesport Area School District names Wanzo new superintendent

“Once a Tiger, always a Tiger” is a popular maxim in the communities of McKeesport, Dravosburg, Versailles, South Versailles and White Oak. And Dr. Tia M. Wanzo takes the motto to heart. So much so that she used it to cap off a short speech during a McKeesport Area School Board special meeting Wednesday. Board directors James Brown, Dave Donato, Diane Elias, Dan Goughnour, Joe Lopretto, LaToya Wright Brown, board Vice President Steve Kondrosky and President Mindy Lundberg on Wednesday unanimously voted to award Wanzo a five-year superintendent contract. She will be paid $165,000 per year. Director Matt Holtzman was absent.
