One driver dead, another injured in crash involving ENC school bus

MAGNOLIA, Duplin County — A head-on collision between a car and a school bus left one driver dead and the bus driver injured. North Carolina State Highway Patrol Sergeant Williams said Jackie Sellers crossed the center line Thursday afternoon on US-117 South in the Magnolia area, near The House of Raeford, and hit the bus head on. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Duplin County man gets 15 years in prison for meth & heroin trafficking

NEW BERN, N.C. (WITN) - A Duplin County man has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for charges relating to drug trafficking and firearms. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 34-year-old Michael Hall was convicted of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of a substance containing methamphetamine, distribution of 50 grams or more of a substance containing methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute a quantity of heroin, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.

Trio leads North Duplin on track

SALEMBURG – Three North Duplin athletes combined for four individual championships during the season-ending 2022 Carolina 1A Outdoor Track and Field meet Thursday afternoon.
