Another possible mountain lion spotting, this time in Halliday

HALLIDAY, N.D. (KXNET) — A mountain lion was possibly spotted in Halliday Friday, the second mountain lion spotted in our coverage area in a day. The mountain lion was seen on Main Street heading north, according to a Facebook post from the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office from about 30 minutes ago as of publishing time.

Jury trials canceled as pair pleads guilty for involvement in death of Watford City man

BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - Two felony jury trials have been canceled for a pair accused in the shooting death of a Watford City man. Prosecutors say 28-year-old Jessica Saueressig and 29-year-old Carlos Mendivil-Beltran (also known as Oscar Ortiz) were traveling in Dunn County with 42-year-old Brian Rowe last July before Mendivil-Beltran shot Rowe and pushed him out of the car. The couple was arrested two days later in Minnesota.

Woman to testify against co-defendant in Dunn County murder case

BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - A Cascade, Wis., woman has entered a guilty plea and received three years of probation for her role in the 2021 death of a Watford City man. Prosecutors say 28-year-old Jessica Saueressig was traveling in Dunn County last July with 29-year-old Carlos Mendivil-Beltran (also known as Oscar Ortiz) and 43-year-old Brian Rowe before Mendivil-Beltran shot Rowe and pushed him out of the car. Police arrested Saueressig and Mendivil-Beltran two days later in Minnesota.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A Wisconsin woman arrested in connection with the death of a North Dakota man in 2021 has been sentenced to three years of probation and has agreed to testify at the trial of the defendant who’s facing a murder charge. Jessica Saueressig, of Cascade, pleaded guilty Tuesday to a felony charge of hindering law enforcement. Saueressig and Carlos Mendivil-Beltran, of Mesa, Arizona, were arrested following the July 25 death of Brian Rowe. Prosecutors say the three, whose relationship was unclear, were traveling in Dunn County when an altercation began between Mendivil-Beltran and the 43-year-old victim. A court affidavit alleges Mendivil-Beltran shot Rowe several times and pushed him out of the vehicle.

Incidents Reported in McKenzie and Dunn County

NORTH DAKOTA – The North Dakota Oil and Gas Division was notified of a fire and subsequent release occurring Wednesday, April 13 at the Jellesed SWD 1 Central Tank Battery location, about 3 miles east of Keene, North Dakota. McKenzie Energy Partners, LLC reported that 2,400 barrels of produced water and 50 barrels of crude oil were released due to the extreme weather event last week. At the time of reporting recovery and cleanup of area had not yet begun, however emergency responders were able to get to the location to disable power and apply water/foam to the area.
