Off-Duty Charles County Deputy Suffers Accidental Gunshot Wound In Dunkirk

DUNKIRK, Md. — We have received reports that an off-duty Charles County deputy suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound this afternoon in Calvert County. At approximately 2:35 p.m., crews were dispatched to the AutoZone located at 2990 Plaza Drive for an originally reported gunshot wound. Reports indicate that the accidental discharge was caused while the deputy was getting out of his vehicle, and he was struck by his bullet in the left leg.

Knife Held to Woman's Throat During Attempted Robbery in Downtown Annapolis

Authorities are searching for the suspect involved in the attempted armed robbery of a woman in Downtown Annapolis. On June 3, 2021, a female victim reported that a person she knew attempted to rob her. The victim was inside of her vehicle in the 100 block of Main Street when the the suspect unlawfully entered the her vehicle and demanded money as he held a knife to her throat. The victim did not comply with the suspects demands at which point he exited the vehicle and ran away.

DC inmate – convicted of murder – wins special election for ANC seat

WASHINGTON - A D.C. jail inmate – who was convicted of murder at the age of 18 – will soon represent the residents of a Ward 7 neighborhood. Commissioner Elect Joel Caston was sent to prison 26 years ago, according to the Washington Post. In 2016, the D.C. native was brought back to the nation’s capital for a new round of hearings regarding his case.

Trial Begins in Case of Man Charged With Fatal Stabbing in Annapolis

The first degree murder trial in connection with a fatal stabbing that occured in Annapolis last summer is scheduled to begin. An Anne Arundel County jury will hear the case of Lester Lee Colbert during a four day trial beginning June 15, 2021. Detectives with the Annapolis Police Department arrested Colbert, 42, and charged him with killing Deontrae Matthews nearly a year ago.

Edgewater Man Released On Bail Following Attack Upon Area Taco Bell Restaurant Staff

A 34 year old Edgewater man was arrested and later released on $3,000 bail after allegedly attacking the employees of an area Taco Bell. On Friday June 4, 2021 at approximately 11:34 a.m., officers responded to the restaurant located at 3091 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater for a disorderly person. The caller reported a customer threw a rock through the drive-thru window and shattered the glass. Officers arrived on scene and spoke with the victim/manager of Taco Bell who stated the suspect entered the business and became irate and disrespectful using profanity towards employees.

Laurel Narcotics Investigation Ends With Seizure of Drugs Worth More Than $6,000, Police Say

More than $6,000 worth of illegal drugs have been taken off the streets in Laurel following an investigation led by the Anne Arundel County Police Department. On June 8, 2021 at approximately 7:30 p.m., officers observed a suspected hand to hand drug transaction at the Exxon gas station located at 3384 Laurel Fort Meade Road in Laurel. A vehicle, driven by a subject known by officers to be unlicensed, drove up to the gas pumps in a blue Honda, however did not exit the vehicle. Moments later, a second subject approached the vehicle and engaged the driver in a suspected drug transaction.
