Strawberry Point Part Dealer Cited For Illegal Tire Burning

An antique tractor part dealer is being cited for illegally burning old tractor tires. Jerry Everitt from Strawberry Point has been illegally burning tires on his land up until someone reported him in March, says an article in Iowa Capital Dispatch. An investigator from the DNR told Iowa Capital Dispatch that Everitt seemed to not know that you are not supposed to be burning tires.

Jury Convicts Lang of First Degree Murder in Independence Trooper’s Death

The man accused of murdering a State Patrol Trooper from Independence has been found guilty. The jury took around two-and-a-half hours Monday to reach a verdict in the trial of 42-year-old Michael Lang of Grundy Center, which was moved to Hamilton County due to publicity surrounding the case. Lang was accused of shooting and killing Sergeant Jim Smith during a standoff last April.

Two Manchester Men Arrested for Separate Domestic Assaults

Manchester Police have arrested two men after responding to domestic assault situations. Police says they received a report last Monday of a domestic and sexual assault that took place at 1220 West Marion Street in Manchester. The victim told police her boyfriend became upset with her, choked her and forced her to have sexual intercourse with him. 42-year old Demond Mayzes of Manchester was charged with Third Degree Sexual Assault and Domestic Assault Impeding Air Flow.

Nationwide warrant for Clermont man accused of child sex abuse

CLERMONT, Iowa (KCRG) - The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating an Iowa man suspected of child sex abuse.
