Superior's lobbying firm acquired by national company

A government relations firm the city of Superior recently contracted with in Madison is coming under new ownership. Michael Best Strategies announced the acquisition of Capitol Consultants on Tuesday, Sept. 14, one week after the council approved a contract for lobby services with Capitol Consultants, specifically with Superior-native Bill McCoshen, who has advocated for the city in the state capital since 2001.

Superior completes boat launch at Pokegama Bay

Improving access to the city’s water resources was the goal behind the Pokegama Bay rustic boat launch project in the Superior Municipal Forest. With the improvement project complete, the city of Superior and Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve are inviting the public to celebrate with an outdoor ribbon cutting, snacks and free canoe rides.

Duluth Fire Department Hiring Laterally

City council approved a resolution on Monday permitting the Duluth Fire Department to make lateral hires. DFD is now able to hire professionals from other career fire departments. Eligible hires will start at full firefighter pay. Usually, new hires get paid 90% their first year. The hiring process is slightly different as well, according to Duluth Fire Chief Shawn Krizaj.
