UBIC- Uintah Basin In Celebration Offers Weekend Packed With Fun

It’s the final two days of UBIC - Uintah Basin in Celebration and there is something fun for everyone. Among other activities around Roosevelt today, the Roosevelt Aquatic Center has free open swim and the UBIC evening program kicks off at 7pm on the stage at Constitution Park followed by movie night in the park. Saturday is another activity filled day with the evening program at 6:45 with a free concert and fireworks. The festivities' roots go back nearly 100 years to 1923 when locals held a convention for the Uintah Basin Industrial Corporation. The convention took a hiatus through the 1940s and was resumed in the early 1950s with more festivities including a parade, vendors and activities. It has been going strong ever since. UBIC August 4-6

The Roosevelt City Police Department would like to remind the community that no unauthorized motorized vehicles are allowed on the grass in any city park. Roosevelt City code defines motorized vehicles as, “any vehicle that has an engine or a motor of any kind used to transport persons or property.” Motorized vehicles damage the grass and other city property and pose a safety risk for park visitors. Violation of this ordinance is a Class C misdemeanor. The Roosevelt Police Department will be present and enforcing this ordinance at upcoming community events.

Uintah Basin Steer Wrestler On His Utah Days Of ‘47 Win

Following a huge win at the Days Of ‘47 rodeo last week, the World Champions Rodeo Alliance (WCRA) is shining the spotlight on Altamont teen 19-year-old Cash Robb who won steer wrestling and a gold medal, taking home $27,850 dollars. “I’ve always dreamed of winning the gold here,” Cash shared with WCRA. “I’ve wanted to come to this rodeo since I was a little kid, and have always watched it on TV. This is one of the big rodeos everybody dreams of winning—especially if you grow up in Utah.” Cash is growing a reputation as a cowboy sensation. He is a National High School Rodeo Association champ, Ote Berry’s Junior Steer Wrestling World Championship tour champ, as well as a World Champions Rodeo Alliance winner last December in Fort Worth. It seems safe to say there are big things to come for this Altamont cowboy.

TriCounty Health Department Has Two More Walking Events Before Bash

TriCounty Health Department started July by offering a Walking Challenge. They invited all members of the Uintah Basin community to join them in walking towards 10,000 steps a day. To keep it fun they include prizes for the first 50 people that showed up to the walking events and a grand prize. For every week that a person sends in how many steps they had (regardless of the end amount), they are entered into the grand prize. There are two more walking events, one today Monday, August 1st at the Uintah County Library and the other at Central Park in Roosevelt on Monday, August 8th. Both events start at 6pm and end at 7pm. Then be sure to mark your calendar for Thursday, August 11th for the big bash, as the walking celebration meets with the Safe Kids Bash at the Colton Pavilion in Vernal starting at 10am and going until 2pm.
