Obituary for Ernest Lee Taylor

Ernest Lee Taylor, age 85 of Pulaski, died Sunday, June 26, 2022 at Highland Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Dublin. “I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith!” He was born on November 10, 1936 in Montcalm, West Virginia, and was the son of the late Loessie Hill Taylor and the late Cletus Taylor.

Motorcycle chase leads to arrest in Carroll

A Woodlawn man has been arrested on numerous charges after leading local law enforcement on a chase on his motorcycle and on foot. According to Carroll County Sheriff Kevin A. Kemp, a deputy with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office was traveling U.S. 58 on June 26 when he observed a motorcycle also traveling U.S. 58 in Woodlawn community. The deputy observed the operator traveling above the posted speed limit and attempted to stop the motorcycle.

Caldwell, Joseph Harmon

Joseph Harmon Caldwell passed away on June 26, 2022 at Carilion Hospital of NRV in Radford. Joe was born during a terrific snowstorm in Floyd VA on March 4, 1942 to Thornton William and Senora Harmon Caldwell. With the exception of time spent in the military, Joe lived on his farm in Indian Valley, VA.

The son of a former Virginia Tech standout is set to make his college decision

Loren Johnson arrived at Virginia Tech in the 1995 recruiting class, one of the more important classes in school history. Johnson, along with fellow defensive back signees Keion Carpenter and Pierson Prioleau, would help establish Virginia Tech as “DBU” over the next several years. The Hokies are still putting defensive backs into the NFL.

Virginia Tech Football: Hokies schedule with divisions eliminated in ACC

The framework of ACC football scheduling went out the window this morning when the conference announced the elimination of divisions. The split between Atlantic and Coastal will be no more starting in the 2023. In it’s place, they’ve adopted a 3-5-5 format. That gives each team each team 3 primary opponents and a pair of home and away games versus the other ten teams in the conference over four years. For Virginia Tech, this will shake up their conference schedule starting next year.

ACC announces football schedule model for 2023-26

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The ACC on Tuesday announced a new football scheduling model that will go into effect beginning with the 2023 season.
