Deputies Investigating Animal Cruelty Case on Holland’s North Side

HOLLAND TWP, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 27, 2022) – Animal cruelty charges could be forthcoming for a 68-year-old woman from Holland’s North Side who is accused of hoarding cats. A tip last Thursday (May 19) to the Ottawa County Animal Control division indicated that numerous felines were being housed in a storage shed on property off of Port Sheldon Street and 104th Avenue in West Olive. That day, deputies saw an 8×5 structure on the site with 27 cats inside. “Some of the cats were found to be injured or in poor health, and all were held in unsanitary living conditions,” Sheriff’s Detective Captain Jake Sparks said in a department statement. “Several of the cats were found to be pregnant.”

Squirrel freed of zip tie 'belt' in Michigan

May 27 (UPI) -- A Michigan woman was able to rescue a squirrel with a zip tie around its body with the help of social media and a local animal rescuer. JoAnn Mason said she initially noticed something was unusual about the squirrel when she saw it outside the back door of her Allegan home.

Portion of Lakeshore Drive closed May 31

GRAND HAVEN TWP. — A portion of Lakeshore Drive in Grand Haven Township will be closed Tuesday, May 31, from 7 a.m. until approximately 5 p.m. The road will be closed between Lake Michigan Drive (M-45) and Buchanan Street. It is closed so that repairs can be made to the road due to damage from a water main break, township officials said.

Missing teen sought in Gobles

GOBLES, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 27, 2022) – The search is on for a 15-year-old Gobles boy who apparently ran away from home earlier this month. According to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department, Gabriel Reynoso hasn’t been seen by his family since May 16th around 2:30 PM. Deputies followed “multiple” leads as to the teen’s whereabouts without success before making a public notice of this matter on Friday. No other details as to the circumstances of his disappearance were immediately disclosed, nor was any description of the youth given other than a distributed photograph.
