Commissioners agree to new leadership structure

After a “very painful” process following a bout of public infighting, the Douglas County board of commissioners has unanimously agreed to a new leadership structure. In the past, the board's chair position rotated on an annual basis based on district but now, Commissioners Abe Laydon and Lora Thomas will alternate serving in the position every month.

Douglas County defeats Pueblo South in boys volleyball

Douglas County had a morning breakfast for its boys volleyball team to help get the team ready for the Region 1 title game on June 19 against Pueblo South. The Huskies, unbeaten and top seeded in the CHSAA’s first sanctioned boys volleyball playoffs, rolled to a 3-0 victory over the Colts. Douglas County piled up 25-19, 25-17 and 25-11 set wins.
