Search Called Off for Burglary Suspect in Mendocino County

Mendocino County deputies have called off the search for a burglary suspect who shot at deputies during an attempted burglary last month. Officials say William Allan Evers returned to the site of a previous burglary attempt in Elk on Monday to attempt another burglary. That’s when Sonoma, Humboldt, Lake and Mendocino counties started a two-day search, but it was called off last night. The search for Evers will be put on hold until further searches can be planned out.

As of…June 15, 2021, the Mendocino County Elected Officials and Department Heads are authorized to continue to close their departments to the public, as the most appropriate means of protecting the health of their employees while still providing essential public services. Cal/OSHA regulates the safety requirements for the Mendocino County workplace and has not lifted the current requirement for masking and social distancing regardless of vaccination status or the state reopening.
