UPDATE: Multiple people displaced after two-alarm fire Wednesday night

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Lincoln Fire and Rescue responded to a structure fire at 9 p.m. Wednesday night. Crews were called to a fire at a row of town homes in northwest Lincoln, north of 7th & Benton. Battalion Chief Mark Majors tells 10/11 NOW a second alarm was declared shortly after the first-arriving crews began working to put out the blaze.

Former GOP Congressman Gets No Time Behind Bars Following Conviction for Lying to the FBI

A Republican U.S. congressman in Nebraska who resigned from office following his March 2022 conviction for lying to the FBI was sentenced to probation on Tuesday. Federal prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California announced the sentencing of convicted felon Jeff Fortenberry, 61, on Twitter, noting that the former representative for Nebraska’s first congressional district was found guilty of lying about foreign campaign contributions.

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (Press Release) -Investigators with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested a Roca man following an investigation into child enticement. On Monday, investigators arrested Hector Tercero, 22, of Roca. Tercero had used social media to arrange a meeting for a sexual encounter with what he believed was a 14-year-old girl. He had actually contacted an NSP investigator posing as the girl.

Lincoln Woman Scammed Out Of $40,000

A 40 year old woman called Lincoln Police on Monday to report she had fallen victim to an internet impersonation scam. The woman told officers she had been talking to a man on Instagram since February who identified himself as actor Henry Cavill. They continued to chat and at one point he told her he had sent her a briefcase containing $10 million and diamonds but it was held up in customs.

Hot and more humid Thursday with late day thunderstorms

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A cold front will slowly move across Nebraska during the day Thursday bringing cooler temperatures to northern and western Nebraska. Southern and eastern Nebraska will be out ahead of the cold front and that means it will be another hot and breezy day. The cold front will eventually move into southeast Nebraska Thursday evening triggering scattered showers and thunderstorms. A few storms will be possible Friday morning in southeast Nebraska, then clearing skies with cooler temperatures Friday afternoon. LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nearly $400,000 worth of beef is missing after a slew of semi thefts that began last week. On Sunday, A Grand Island man reported that his semi was stolen on Friday. He told police that the GPS in his truck indicated that the truck was southwest of Lincoln near the intersection of 100th Street and Highway 33.
