Tiger boys win Section True Team again, girls third

The Morris Area / Chokio-Alberta Tiger boys track and field team was crowned the Section 5A True Team champions for the third time in the past four years. The Tigers won Section 5A True Team back in 2018 and 2019. Of course the 2020 True Team meet was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2021 State True Team, which the Tigers also attended, was virtually held.

98-Year-Old Senior Put in Pool for Neighborhood Kids After Wife Passes Away

Grief and loneliness often go hand-in-hand. This is what, then 94-year-old Keith Davison of Morris, Minnesota experienced after his wife died of cancer in 2016. After 66 years of marriage and raising three children, his house was suddenly very quiet. That’s when, in 2017, he got the idea to install a pool for the neighborhood kids. Now every summer, his backyard is full, and at 98 years of age, he’s still going strong.

Exchange student loves the people but dislikes the weather

There will be a lot of tears shed on June 11 when Elisa Ceccarelli says goodbye to her host family and friends she has made over the last five plus months in Morris. Elisa arrived here on December 29 and has been living with Rob and Kelli Lonergan and their daughters, Ava and Bryn. Elisa and Ava are both in the junior class at Morris Area High School and Bryn is an 8th grader.

Jose Lezcano Recital at Library on May 21

Twice-Grammy nominated composer and guitarist Jose Lezcano will perform a recital at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21 at the Morris Public Library. The show was originally scheduled for this Saturday but the date was changed so as not to conflict with UMM graduation ceremonies. Lezcano has been a visiting professor of music this semester at the University of Minnesota Morris.

ST. PAUL – The University of Minnesota Morris women’s tennis team had three players honored by the UMAC on Wednesday while the Cougar men had one. Senior Kate Obright and sophomore Kiley Rodarmel were each named Second Team All-UMAC, while junior Megan Arens was awarded Honorable Mention All-UMAC.
