ROCK FALLS, Ill. (KWQC) - One person was injured Saturday after a single-vehicle accident in Rock Falls, according to police. Officials say Rock Falls Police responded to the 500 block of West 6th Street at about 10:17 p.m. Saturday for a report of a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle. Officers on scene found the injured driver, who later was airlifted to Rockford due to the severity of injuries, police said.

ROCHELLE — In recent years, the downtown area of Rochelle has seen various new businesses and development projects. Most recently, in a decision made by the Rochelle City Council earlier this month, a development agreement with Seldal Properties, LLC was approved for a $1 million redevelopment of 318, 320, 322, 324 and 326 Lincoln Highway that will consist of mixed-use retail and residential space. The city will reimburse Seldal Properties, LLC $300,000 after the completion of the project with tax increment financing money as part of the development agreement.

The Prophetstown Fire Protection District learned they were the recipient of two donations from Prophetstown’s Moore Foundation during their June board meeting. The fire department received a grant in the amount of $22,000 for 20 portable radios and signal repeater. The system will help boost communication in the southern part of the district.

ROCHELLE — Rochelle Community Hospital recently had its designation as an acute, stroke-ready hospital (ASRH) renewed by the Illinois Department of Public Health. “That designation requires us to show that we provide certain aspects of stroke care,” RCH Emergency Services Manager Janis Astle said. “And we're small of course, however, we're good at what we do. DOWNERS GROVE – The Illinois State Police say they arrested 53-year old Frank Hightower III of Rockford for Aggravated Use of an Electronic Communication Device Causing a Death. In February, troopers responded to a fatal traffic crash involving two vehicles on Interstate 88 westbound near Rochelle. They say a westbound tractor-trailer struck the rear of a passenger vehicle, killing the driver. During the course of the investigation, authorities say Hightower was unlawfully using an electronic communication device while driving at time of the crash. The Ogle County State’s Attorney Office approved one count of Aggravated Use of an Electronic Communication Device Causing a Death against Hightower. He was taken into custody and is being held at the Ogle County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
