Newport native Grant Black promoted to AAA Memphis

MEMPHIS (KAIT) - A Newport native is a step closer to The Show. The St. Louis Cardinals announced Friday that pitcher Grant Black was promoted from Springfield to Memphis. Black had a stellar May and June in relief in AA. He had a stretch of 15 1/3 innings without allowing an earned run spanning May 14th to June 21st.

William “Lee” Garrett, age 56, of Cave City passed away June 27, 2022, in Batesville. He was born March 18, 1966, in Corpus Christi, Texas to Johnny and Lynda Garrett. He was employed at Custom Craft Poultry in Batesville. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his daughter and grandson and he loved the outdoors.

First production in new BCT Performing Arts Center slated for next weekend
