5 teens arrested after allegedly shooting Uber driver, stealing car

SLIDELL - Five New Orleans teenagers were caught in Slidell and are accused of shooting a New Orleans Uber driver and stealing their car Tuesday. According to the Slidell Police Department, officers found the teenagers and the car near John Slidell Park. Officers found three guns in the car and said they believe the group was waiting at the park, scouting for another victim to carjack.

Five New Orleans carjacking suspects found in ride-share driver's vehicle

Five (5) teens are in-custody for being in possession of a stolen Uber driver’s vehicle, who was carjacked and shot in New Orleans, this past Tuesday. Slidell Police were alerted by the New Orleans Police Department on Tuesday morning (June 28, 2022), that a stolen 2022 Toyota Highlander was possibly in the Slidell area. Earlier that same morning, the stolen Toyota Highlander was carjacked from an Uber driver, who was shot and left on the side of the road in New Orleans. Slidell Police were warned that the occupants of the vehicle were considered to be armed and dangerous.

Five teens arrested in carjacking, shooting of New Orleans ride-hail driver

Five teenagers have been arrested in the carjacking and shooting of a New Orleans ride-hail driver, Slidell police said Thursday. Crystin Morgan, 18, Eitan Morgan,18, and Jason Washington, 19, all of New Orleans, were booked at the St. Tammany Parish jail with possession of a stolen vehicle, weapons and narcotics, and contributing to the delinquency of juveniles. Two 16-year-olds were booked on similar charges at the Florida Parish Juvenile Detention Center.

New law against catalytic converter theft effective Friday

GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - A new law to curb catalytic converter theft and more goes into effect Friday. “We all see it. It’s very common,” Gulfport Police Chief Adam Cooper told WLOX. “It’s a load on the person it happens to. It’s very expensive to get repaired because it’s an expensive item taken right off the car, and it’s not very well protected under the vehicle.”
