Church schedules groundbreaking for Willamette Valley Oregon Temple

Groundbreaking plans are scheduled for the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple, the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced Monday. Elder Valeri V. Cordón, a General Authority Seventy who serves as first counselor in the church’s North America West Area presidency, will preside at Willamette Valley temple groundbreaking ceremony on Oct. 29. The event is by invitation only.

Eugene woman arrested for DUII after hitting parked cars

EUGENE, Ore. - At 7:45 p.m. Sunday, Eugene Police received a report of a Lexus hitting several parked cars in a shopping center parking lot at 2740 River Road. According to police, when officers arrived, the driver, 46-year-old Jennifer Christene Clark of Eugene was sitting nearby the damaged vehicles. She appeared to be intoxicated and was taken into custody on charges on DUII and Reckless Driving.

Eagles’ Allen qualifies for World Championships next month

Devon Allen didn’t have his best race on Sunday but still did enough at the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships to qualify for the World Championships next month. The Eagles’ receiver and resident Olympic hurdler is making the most of his time before training camp starts in late July. On Sunday, he ran a 13.09 in the 110-meter hurdles at the U.S. Championships in Eugene, Oregon, to take third place and qualify for worlds.

Former Ducks Score Spot at Track and Field Championships. Three former Oregon Ducks have qualified for the 2022 World Athletic Championships to be held in Eugene next month. Devon Allen competes in the 110 meter hurdles and says he is still adjusting to a new starting technique and finished third in yesterday’s competition. Jenna Prandini was commanding the 200 meter race but fell off at the end to finish third with a time of 22.01. Raevyn Rogers also took third in her signature event the 800 meters in 1:57.96. all three athletes say it is great to be back on the field that started their college careers. Rogers says she is particularly excited to be back and hopes that she can realize the expectations she and others have. She says being a Duck is a lot of pressure in itself, and wants to make everyone proud.

JOHN DAY – The 13th Annual Tribute to Fallen Soldiers Memorial Torch Motorcycle Ride begins on Saturday, July 9, 2022 in Eugene. According to a release provided by the John Day Elks, on Sunday, July 10, 2022, the Tribute Ride and the Fallen Soldiers Memorial Flame is scheduled to make a visit and lunch stop in John Day. The riders officially requested the John Day Fire Department participate in the arrival of the Fallen Soldiers Memorial Flame by hanging and displaying an American Flag. The ceremony will begin at 11am on Sunday the 10th at the John Day Elks Lodge.

UK football signee takes home 200m title at U.S. Outdoor Championships

A past, current, and future Kentucky Wildcat each took home titles at the U.S. Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon over the weekend. Former Wildcat and 2020 Tokyo Olympian Daniel Roberts won the 110-meter hurdles for the second time with a season-best 13.03 to officially qualify for Team USA. UK senior Abby Steiner won the national championship in the 200 meters in a personal best time of 21.77, a new all-dates collegiate best and the sixth fastest in American history and 17th fastest in world history.
