The Stuttgart School Board held a special called meeting Tuesday night to take care of some last-minute school business and to make personnel decisions. The board officially created the position of Business/Finance Office Clerk for the central office. The position’s pay and the job description were added to the district’s classified salary schedule.

Rice farmers in eastern Arkansas heading out to check fields Wednesday morning instead found something with a bit more bite, according to a report from KARK news. Farmers Turner Earhart and Owen Luebke said they were leaving their shop outside of Dewitt to check water levels in rice fields when they noticed something in the ditch near the road.

The individual said that the residence did not have running water but denied urinating in the yard. The individual was advised by police that it is illegal to urinate in public.

Stuttgart native Cori Keller was one of 45 contestants who competed this year for the title of Miss Arkansas. The weeklong scholarship pageant event was held at the Robinson Performance Hall in Little Rock from Saturday, June 11, to Sunday, June 18. Keller walked away from the competition with $3,650 in scholarship money by placing among the top 10 contestants.

Jimmy Don Longnecker, 61, of Stuttgart passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 24, 2022. Jimmy was born Sept. 4, 1960, to Floyd and Marcena Longenecker. He was a Stuttgart High School graduate and began working in the automotive industry at age 16 with McCallister Motor, then Coffield Ford, but most recently Petrus as finance manager. Jimmy was a very thoughtful and caring person with a contagious smile and laugh that could light up any room.

Robert Louis Fischer, 79, of Stuttgart passed away unexpectedly Saturday, June 25, 2022. Robert was born Sept. 21, 1942, in Little Rock to Louis and Martha Fischer. He was a retired insurance agency manager and member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He was active in the 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus Council #2780 and in the Grand Prairie Assembly where he was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He was also an Air Force veteran.
