Southeast Michigan's top BBQ pitmasters are lining up to participate in Westland's signature event of the year, Blues, Brews and BBQ at Thomas H. Brown Central City Park. Blues, Brews and BBQ will feature several talented musicians, American barbecue and a selection of Michigan craft beers. The event will take place 5-11 p.m. Aug. 6 and continues all day Aug. 7.

Buddy's Pizza Announces Opening Of Two More Michigan Restaurants in 2022

A Detroit favorite, Buddy's Pizza, is continuing to expand, with two new restaurants opening in early 2022. The new locations will be at 5510 Shashabaw Rd., Clarkston, and 2010 W. Grand River Ave., Okemos. The Clarkston location will be carry-out only, while the Okemos location will be a full restaurant at more than 7,000 square feet, with 275 seats including a patio and bar. The Okemos location will also have a mural that harks back to Buddy's original location on Six Mile Road in Detroit.

Summer Ice Cream Social returns to Pontiac

Everyone is screaming for ice cream and more this weekend. The Summer Ice Cream Social, presented by the Oakland County History Society, is taking place from noon-4 p.m. July 24 and 25 at 405 Cesar Chavez Ave. in Pontiac. In its 52nd year, the in-person activities return after a drive-thru format in 2020.

Grand Trunk Pub in Downtown Detroit Reopens Next Week After Year-Plus Shutdown

Grand Trunk Pub on Woodward Avenue in downtown Detroit plans to reopen on Saturday, July 31, after being closed since the start of the pandemic in March 2020. "We've renovated the bar, hand-painted the vintage architecture, hand-laid marble tile and revamped our menu and are doing 'Brunch All Day,'" the pub says in a press release. Ice cream lovers rejoice: Browndog Barlor plans to make a return to downtown Farmington. The shop, known for its ice cream, originally closed last year during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. ROYAL OAK, Mich. – A new social district that connects dozens of businesses and allows outdoor drinking in the heart of Royal Oak is officially open. The Metro Detroit city approved plans for a downtown social district in April with hopes of attracting more patrons to struggling restaurants, bars and shops, while allowing people to drink outside and remain socially distanced amid the pandemic.
