Severe weather leaves behind damage, power outages in Mid-Michigan

MID-MICHIGAN, Mich. (WJRT) - Storm damage, flooding, and a few possible tornadoes were reported in Mid-Michigan after severe thunderstorms moved through the area on Saturday. As of Sunday morning, Consumers Energy reported that more than 6,000 customers were still without power on its outage map with most of those outages in Genesee and Midland counties.

NWS says two tornadoes touched down in Oakland and Macomb Counties Saturday night

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (FOX 2) - The National Weather Service says two different tornadoes touched down in both Oakland County and Macomb County at nearly the exact same time. The NWS confirmed an EF-1 tornado touched down in White Lake Saturday evening at 7:54 p.m. According to the NWS, the tornado was on the ground about a mile north/northeast White Lake and traveled for almost 2 miles and lifted up three minutes later, at 7:57 p.m.

Thousands in Armada, Oakland County without power after storms

Thousands of DTE Energy customers in Oakland County and the village of Armada in Macomb County remain without power following severe stormsand a tornado Saturday night. DTE reported that 88,315 customers were without power Sunday nightdue to wind damage. Outages were widespread in Oakland County, from West 12 Mile Road north to South Fenton Road, including Clyde, Wolverine Lake and Walled Lake.

Thousands without power after wave of metro Detroit storms; southbound M-10 reopens

Metro Detroit is once again left reeling from damage done by heavy rains. The southeast Michigan area, still recovering from flooding just eight days ago, accumulated another 1-2 inches of rain during a wave of storms Saturday afternoon and evening, said National Weather Service White Lake Township meteorologist Megan Varcie, leading to flooding on southbound M-10 and other areas, plus power outages and at least one confirmed tornado.
