3 trades to make the Detroit Lions playoff contenders in 2022

The buzz is positive around the Detroit Lions right now, but here are three trades that could push them all the way to playoff contention in 2022. After a 3-13-1 season in 2021, it appears that the Detroit Lions are very far away from contending to make the postseason. Frankly, the roster still appears to have many holes in it along with upgrades likely needed in spots. But don’t be deceived, this roster is closer to contention than you might think.

Writer says Detroit Lions fans are delusional about offseason

Following a 3-13-1 season, many hoped Detroit Lions GM Brad Holmes would go into the NFL free agency period and clean house by adding a couple of big-time players. Well, those people who hoped for a big splash were probably very disappointed and probably angry that Holmes really did not do a ton other than signing WR D.J. Chark to a 1-year prove-it deal.

Notes: Detroit Lions teammates offer first impressions of Aidan Hutchinson

Joining a new crowd can be a little difficult for some, but new Detroit Lions defender Aidan Hutchinson is making some great first impressions already. As the squad’s organized team activities (OTAs) get underway, a few Lions had the chance to offer their thoughts on the second overall pick. At this point, teams can run 11-on-11 drills but without pads. So what they’ve seen from Hutchinson is limited, but work ethic wise, he appears to be fitting in just fine. (You can find observations from Thursday’s practice via Jeremy here.)

Thursday open thread: Will the Detroit Lions defense break their pick-six drought?

When Darius Slay took a Josh Rosen pass to the house for his first career pick six, it was the second time in the 2018 season that the Detroit Lions secondary found the end zone themselves. The previous occurrence was one of the most memorable in recent history, with Quandre Diggs nearly bringing down Ford Field on the very first play of the season.

Detroit Lions hint at offensive play caller for 2022

Who will be calling plays for the Detroit Lions by the time Week 1 of the 2022 regular season rolls around?. That is a question that Lions head coach Dan Campbell has not been willing to answer up to this point but if what happened during Thursday’s OTAs is any indication of what will happen during the regular season, we have a pretty good idea of who will be calling plays for the Lions offense this coming season.
