Hillsboro man killed in crash on HWY BB

(Hillsboro) A Hillsboro man was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Highway BB north of Three B Road on Thursday afternoon. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 56-year-old Micheal Beals was driving a 1995 Chevy 1500 south on BB, traveled off the right side of the roadway, overturned, and was ejected from the truck. Beals was pronounced deceased at the scene. The accident took place a little after 4 o’clock Thursday afternoon.

Two people injured in HWY 61 crash

Two people were injured in a head-on collision on US 61 near Scotts Lane Thursday afternoon. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 18-year-old Adam Steffens of Festus was driving a 2015 Dodge Dart south on 61, crossed the center line, and pulled into the path of a 2021 Ford Bronco driven by 34-year-old Lynn Fischer of St. Louis. Both Steffens and Fischer were taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital South with moderate injuries. The accident took place at a little after 5 o’clock Thursday afternoon.

Governor Signs Bill Honoring Farmington Soldiers

(Farmington) Friday was a special day in Jefferson City for State Representative Dale Wright of Farmington. His bill honoring the memory of two Farmington soldiers killed in the Vietnam War was officially signed by Governor Parson. Jefferson College officials place Leader pages under new gym floor

Before crews began replacing the gym floor in the Jefferson College Fieldhouse in Hillsboro, a time capsule of sorts was laid down, to be covered by the new wood floor. On June 23, Roger Barrentine, the college’s director of public information and marketing, and Marie Self, the school’s athletic site supervisor, placed two laminated pages of the June 16, 2022, Leader on the floor at midcourt immediately before Missouri Floor Co. employees began laying down new wood flooring.
