Stella Belle (Martinez) Sintas, (88) passed away Monday, February 7, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was born October 20, 1933 to Lewis and Eutemia (Chavez) Martinez in Des Moines, NM. She is survived by her children Connie Asuncion, Conchita Sintas, Alfred (Maryann) Sintas, Gary (Joan) Sintas, Pete (Becky) Sintas, Ron (Janette) Sintas and Janet (James) Laros; 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; sisters Earlene LeDoux, Marion Rodriguez and brother Dickie (Bobbie) Martinez; brother-in-law Frank Sintas and sister-in-law Mary Sena. She was preceded in death by the love of her life Alfred (Pete) Sintas whom she was with from the age of 14; her daughter Rosa Lynn, her great grandson Ki-Johna, her parents, her sisters Molly Ortiz, Lillian Archuleta, Pauline Raught, Charlene Winn and brother Lewis Martinez, Jr.Mom will be profoundly missed by her family and many in the community of Raton where she raised her family. Her greatest accomplishment was cooking in the kitchen for her children and grandchildren where she was famous for her bread and tortillas. She was extremely proud of her election as a Raton City Commissioner. She was dedicated to the causes of the people and took her job very seriously. Mom was always there for someone in need and many people will remember her for her generosity.

A hunter who went missing northwest of Branson, Colorado on Halloween — and was later found dead — has been identified as 26-year-old Grant Hill, a former Alabama football offensive lineman. At the time of his death, Hill was employed as an intern at Madison Behavior Therapy in Huntsville, Alabama.

The body of a hunter who went missing northwest of Branson, Colorado, over the weekend was recovered Monday morning, Nov. 1, county law enforcement reported. The Las Animas County Sheriff’s Office said in a release Monday morning that it received a call of a hunter who went missing northwest of Branson Sunday, Oct. 31 around 6:30 p.m. The hunter was last seen around 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Branson, Colorado, residents said there has been an issue with trespassers on private property in the small, agricultural community of some 35 people. A number of residents shared their concerns with the Las Animas County Board of Commissioners during a work session, lasting close to two hours, held in the Branson Community Center Friday, Oct. 22 which convened to hear various concerns of Branson residents.
