Truck Rollover in Washington County Injures Three

Photo courtesy of Washington County Ambulance Service. Three teenagers have been injured in a single vehicle wreck southeast of Washington Friday. The Iowa State Patrol states that at about 1:57 p.m. a 15-year-old was driving a Ford F250 pickup truck westbound on 285th Street west of Quince Avenue when they lost control on the gravel road and went into the south ditch rolling several times. The driver and the passengers were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash and were all ejected from the vehicle. Two people were transported by Washington County Ambulance Service and one person was transported by AirCare to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. The incident remains under investigation. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.

Man Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash in Chickasaw County Identified

Authorities have identified a Nashua man as the person killed in a two-vehicle crash in Chickasaw County Wednesday afternoon. The Iowa State Patrol says the collision occurred just west of Fredericksburg shortly before 3 p.m. A Hyundai Accent driven by 68-year-old Thomas Kolodjiez was turning off Highway 63 at the Highway 18 exit, but failed to yield at the stop sign and was struck broadside by a KW semi-tractor driven by 50-year-old Jason Woodring of Fredericksburg that was eastbound on 18. Kolodjiez died from his injuries suffered in the wreck.

Ames man sentenced to life in prison after 2019 machete murder of roommate

An Ames man convicted of murder in July was sentenced Friday to life in prison for killing his roommate in November 2019. David Sean Hunter, 57, was convicted by a Story County jury in the death of 37-year-old Christopher Swalwell. Swalwell died at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center shortly after Hunter stabbed him multiple times at their west Ames apartment.

Iowa Falls man allegedly caught with meth

An Iowa Falls man already facing a string of charges was arrested again, this time for allegedly possessing methamphetamine last weekend. According to court records, 37-year-old Troy Jensen has been charged with possession of methamphetamine - 3rd or subsequent offense after being arrested by Iowa Fall Police on Sept. 11. He is also facing felony drug charges stemming from a July 31 incident in which Jensen was arrested. Jail staff allegedly found a small amount of methamphetamine on his person during booking. It is unclear what Jensen was arrested for at that time.
