An Altoona man arrested in Melcher-Dallas on June 20 has had his charges modified. . Fifty-three-year-old Gary Oneal Elmore of Altoona, was initially charged with Burglary First Degree, a Class B Felony, Kidnapping Third Degree, a Class C Felony, Going Armed with Intent, a Class D Felony, Dominion/Control of a Firearm or Weapon by a Domestic Abuse Offender, a Class D Felony, Harassment First Degree and Aggravated Misdemeanor, and two counts of Child Endangerment and Aggravated Misdemeanor.

June 30 accident reports

A hit and run report was filed following an incident at the Friendly Acres Mobile Home Park on June 25. According to an Osceola Police report, the owner of a 2005 Nissan 350Z Roadster reported that their car was parked in the mobile home park at approximately 6:30 in the morning. When the owner went to leave, they noticed that their car had been hit on the front driver side corner. The owner stated this is the third time a vehicle parked in this spot has been hit, and that they believed the occupants of trailer number 29 to have been doing it. Officer Earnest Pettit looked at the vehicle parked at number 29 but was unable to make a positive determination if it was the vehicle involved.

Indianola Streetscape Update Information

Work continued on the Indianola Square Reconstruction Project this week, which included the removal of the road on Ashland Ave between 1st and Howard and the installation of the pedestrian fence. Installation of the sidewalk, planter beds, and seat walls began on the west side of Howard, while sidewalk work began on the east side of Howard. Salem Ave was also opened to traffic.

Warren County Justice Center Dedication Ceremony Takes Place Wednesday

The Warren County Justice Center Dedication Ceremony took place Wednesday, culminating years of work to build the new facility after the old courthouse was torn down in 2019. The American Legion Post 165 hosted a flag procession ceremony, followed by bagpipes, a bugle, and a cornerstone laying ceremony, with remarks by county employees, and a ribbon cutting hosted by the Indianola Chamber of Commerce. Warren County Judge Kevin Parker said in his statement, the Justice Center is aptly named, and the court system will try to live up to that name.
