DEMING – The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 0004 in Deming has reintroduced New Mexico Girls’ State to local high school students. After a two-year hiatus due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, the American Legion Auxiliary New Mexico Girls’ State Program (ALANMGS) held its 73rd session in-person, June 5 through June 10, on the campus of Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) in Portales, NM.

Use Luna County property tax drop box

For your convenience, the Luna County Treasurer's Office has put a payment drop box for property taxes on the southeast corner of the historic Luna County Courthouse located at 700 South Silver Street in Deming, NM. Luna County Treasurer Kristi Hobbs said the drop box will receive payments of all sorts to the Treasurer's Office. Shooting victim clings to life as details unfold

DEMING – Deming police have notified family and released the name of Monday’s shooting victim. Christopher Richards, 26, is on life support in an El Paso hospital with a gunshot wound to the head and two injuries to his right arm following a daylight shooting at the Deming Manor Apartments, 1000 S. DEMING – A neighborhood on Deming’s west side encountered an unwanted visitor on Tuesday, June 7. A juvenile black bear wandered into the city and was spotted near the vacant LULAC Council 205 building. Off-Highway Vehicle Training in Luna County, NM

The Luna County Sheriff's Office hosted Off-Highway Vehicle Training for members of the community in Deming and Luna County. OVH safety is a high priority in rural communities like Deming and Luna County. The training took place on May 21, 2022 and the event was sponsored by the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish through an OHV grant. Children and adults were educated on the rules and regulations for OHV. Eight children, ages 6-17 graduated from the training.
