Police: Juvenile fight leads to shooting at Kokomo Beach

A juvenile was shot yesterday at Kokomo Beach, and investigators believe a fight with at least five young males led to the shooting. Yesterday, just after 5 p.m., officers with the Kokomo Police Department were dispatched to Kokomo Beach, 508 W. Park Ave., in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a juvenile male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital and later flown to Indianapolis for further treatment.

Child Shot at Kokomo Beach, Another Child Arrested

KOKOMO, Ind. — A boy was shot and another was arrested Tuesday evening after a shooting outside the main entrance to Kokomo Beach Family Aquatic Center. Officers with the Kokomo Police Department were called to the aquatic center just after 5 p.m., according to a Facebook post by the police department.

Wolcott deputy town marshal injured, man killed during exchange of gunfire

WOLCOTT — A Wolcott man was killed and a deputy town marshal injured Tuesday night after gunfire erupted while deputies served an arrest warrant on a Wolcott residence. Indiana State Police said at 9:20 p.m. June 15, a Wolcott deputy marshal, accompanied by the Monon town marshal, attempted to serve an arrest warrant for Perry Boyd, 56, at 403 W. Anderson St., Wolcott. Police said when the deputies arrived at the home, Boyd retreated into the home. The deputies also entered the home and that is when an exchange of gunfire occurred.

Police: ‘Disturbing trend’ of Juvenile incidents on the rise in Foster Park/Kokomo Beach area

Yesterday, a juvenile was shot at Kokomo Beach, and it’s not the first time police have seen crime among juveniles in this area. According to a release from the Kokomo Police Department, officers recently have noticed a rise in incidents involving juveniles in the Foster Park/Kokomo Beach area. The department is continuing to ask parents and guardians to keep an eye on their children.

Area near Delco-GM Site 5 still under active investigation by EPA

A Kokomo neighborhood near the former GM-Delco plant has been tested for dangerous chemicals for years, and some residents believe their health has been affected. Siblings Christy Pickard and Jeff Pickard have lived on North Buckeye Street for decades. Christy spent time as a young woman with her grandmother in the neighborhood, and Jeff purchased a house there in 2005. Christy followed suit soon after. One constant in the neighborhood was that it was near the GM-Delco plant, and in recent years, their homes, among others, have been the subject of chemical testing by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

At approximately 2 a.m. Sunday, June 13, Logansport Police Department officer Joseph Flory observed a silver passenger car traveling between 75 and 90 miles-per-hour in the 300 block of 19th Street. Activating his sirens and lights, Flory initiated a traffic stop, but the Logansport teen failed to yield, said LPD Sgt. Eric Smith of the investigations division.
