MONTE VISTA — Just in time for the annual Ski-Hi Stampede in Monte Vista, a mural has been completed on a wall of the Fassett building parking lot, in downtown Monte Vista. This year marks 100 years of the Ski-Hi Stampede and the mural is a tribute to the annual event.

MONTE VISTA — Peg Schall of the Monte Vista Historical Society and Transportation of the West Museum recently announced that a new artifact is on display at the Transportation of the West Museum in Monte Vista. A potato sorter from about 1921 was found in a South Park potato cave and donated to the society.

A ribbon cutting was recently held for Tierra del Sol Estates, Phase II, in Monte Vista. Community Resources and Housing Development Corp. board and team members took part in the ribbon cutting along with Monte Vista Mayor Dale Becker and Councilwoman Martha Lock. Mayor Becker spoke and was supportive of CRHDC efforts. Tierra del Sol Estates, Phase II, consists of 57 ready-to-build single-family lots. MONTE VISTA — The Rio Grande National Forest (RGNF) is asking for public input on a proposed change to the existing fee structure for developed camping and cabin rentals. The overall proposal seeks to increase fees in existing fee campgrounds, initiate new fees for current non-fee campgrounds, extending reduced fees into the shoulder season for several campgrounds, and initiate a fee for two new rental cabins.
