A DeKalb County resident landed behind bars Thursday evening following a reported altercation – in connection with a youth baseball game. Chief Deputy Rocky Harnen of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, said two deputies were called to a baseball field in Pisgah, Thursday (May 19th) – in response to verbal arguments between parents and officials regarding the game. Chief Harnen said the arguments appeared to be over by the time deputies arrived at the field. However, as one of the deputies was leaving that scene, he witnessed a person in a physical altercation with a group in another part of the parking lot. The group allegedly being assaulted – included two umpires from the youth baseball game.

FORT PAYNE, Ala. — Earlier this year, Gordon Randall Bethune (60 of Trenton, Ga) was indicted with the FBI Northeast Alabama Criminal Enterprise for Possession with Intent to Distribute. Tuesday, May 10th, Bethune was sentenced to 92 months in Federal Prison, which is to start immediately. Bethune will have 36 months of supervised release after he has served the 92-month sentence. A man and woman were arrested on multiple charges Monday after being found with methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop in DeKalb County. The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office said agents with the office's narcotics unit stopped the vehicle near Alabama 68 and Interstate 59 in Collinsville. During the stop, agents seized "approximately 55 grams of methamphetamine, 15 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency," the sheriff's office said.

A DeKalb County resident was injured in a single-vehicle accident, taking place in the early morning hours of Sunday. According to that Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report the driver – a resident of Sylvania – of a 2007 Mazda was transported for treatment after wrecking on I-59 near nile narker 204 at around 2:45am.

State Troopers responded to a single-vehicle accident occurring in Cherokee County on Monday morning. According to trooper reports that wreck took place around 10:00am on Highway 278 at mile marker 155, and involved a 2009 Toyota, being driven by a female resident of Cedartown, Georgia; fortunately no one was hurt in the mishap.
