DEFIANCE - The office of the Defiance County prosecuting attorney reported multiple people were recently indicted by a Defiance County grand jury. Tivis I. Molina, 36, of Wolcottville, Indiana, was indicted on two counts of felonious assault, each a felony of the second degree. Authorities allege on May 17, outside a residence on County Road 424 in Sherwood, Molina knowingly caused or attempted to cause physical harm to two individuals by means of a motor vehicle.

Two seriously injured in crash involving Paulding County Sheriff

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - A couple from Antwerp suffered serious head injuries after a motorcycle crash on Saturday involving the Paulding County Sheriff. It happened Saturday afternoon in Defiance County on State Route 49 just south of State Route 249. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Jason Landers, the Paulding County Sheriff, was driving a motorcycle along SR 49 with his wife, Jayme Landers. The couple was following behind a motorcycle driven by Jeremy Hughes with his wife, Emily Hughes.

CIC discusses downtown redevelopment district

Defiance County's community improvement corporation (CIC) discussed the possibility of a downtown redevelopment district in Defiance during its monthly meeting Thursday. CIC Director Erika Willitzer noted that the City of Defiance has received a $20,000 grant through JobsOhio to help establish such a district. She credited Niki Warncke, the city's planner, for her diligence in seeking the grant.

Defiance Dream Center to host fifth annual Serve Day

The Defiance Dream Center kicked off its first ever Serve Day four years ago, with a goal of helping to meet needs of people in the Defiance community. The fifth annual Serve Day will be held July 10 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., and feature volunteers from the Defiance Dream Center, local community organizations, churches and people from all walks of life. Volunteers will meet at the Defiance Dream Center, located at 1935 E. Second St., Suite A, prior to going out into the community to serve.

Two injured in Defiance County motorcycle crash

DEFIANCE COUNTY, Ohio (WOWO): Two people were seriously injured in a crash involving two motorcycles Saturday afternoon in Defiance County. The Ohio State Highway Patrol was called on a report of a crash at 2:59 p.m. at State Route 49 south of State Route 249. Officials say one motorcyclist was going south on SR 49 ahead of another when the trailing rider tried to pass. However, he struck the left side of the other motorcycle, knocking the motorcycle on its left side and causing the the man and woman, each from Antwerp, to be ejected.

Driver injured

The driver of this car was injured in a one-vehicle crash around 4 p.m. Monday on Ohio 15, just west of Defiance County’s Blosser Road. He was taken by Delaware Township EMS to ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital, according to the Highway Patrol’s Defiance post. The vehicle was westbound on Ohio 15 when it went off the right side of the roadway, grazed a utility pole, went over a driveway culvert at a residence and struck another pole more directly, almost snapping it off. The car came to rest on its top. Further details were unavailable Monday.
