Why did you want to major in chemistry? I love any kind of puzzle. Chemistry is like a puzzle, and I love putting together the pieces. As the formulas and problems are put together, each piece acts like puzzle pieces, creating something bigger, like the reaction or the solution to an equation. Baldwin County Fire and Rescue fight fire at State Prison

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ga. (WGXA) -- Baldwin County Fire and Rescue responded to a report of heavy smoke in one of the buildings at Baldwin State Prison. With backup from Milledgeville Fire Rescue Services, they were able to fight the fire and contain it to an office area within an hour.

Wheeler signs to join Eastern University volleyball team

Despite moving nearly 800 miles from Athens Academy, Peyton Wheeler has found a new home with the Eastern University volleyball program in St. Davids, Pennsylvania. As a senior, the recent Spartan graduate helped her high school volleyball team reach its first Class A-Private state championship appearance since 2010 before falling to Mount Paran Christian in the finals.

Reigles retire after 30 years with Spartans

When the Athens Academy baseball team opens the 2023 season, it will do so without two longtime fixtures in its dugout. Peggy Reigle spent the last 30 years keeping stats and providing encouragement in the Spartans’ dugout. Her husband, Tom, joined the effort during the last several years. But after the conclusion of the 2022 season in May, the Reigles decided to retire from those adventures.
