“12 Mighty Orphans” is a True Texas Tale

“12 Mighty Orphans” is based on a true story about an underdog football team from a Fort Worth orphanage who stunned the state and the country, going to the state championship during the Depression era. The film is adapted from Dallas sportswriter Jim Dent’s 2007 nonfiction book, and was shot almost entirely in Texas—primarily in Fort Worth and Weatherford.

TCA holds groundbreaking for Ludwig Family Athletic Complex

WILLOW PARK — For all of its 28 years of existence, Trinity Christian Academy has been without home fields for outdoor athletic programs. But not anymore. Earlier this month, the school held a groundbreaking ceremony on 82 acres parallel to Bankhead Highway just west of the school campus. The property will be the home of the Ludwig Family Athletic Complex at Trinity Christian Academy to honor the dedication of John and Jodie Ludwig and their children, Brianna (class of 2016) and Andrew (class of 2018).

Springtown man indicted for continuous sexual abuse of a child

A Parker County grand jury recently indicted Leland Darrell Speck, 62, of Springtown, for continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14. During a forensic interview at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Parker County on March 15, a 12-year-old female made an outcry of sexual abuse by Speck on multiple occasions at a Springtown residence, according to the probable cause affidavit.
