Oxford council approves Wellborn tax abatement

OXFORD — Oxford City Council unanimously approved a 15-year tax abatement for Wellborn Cabinet, Inc. during its regular business session Tuesday night. The approval was anticipated 24 hours after the Talladega County Commission approved the same incentive for the company and the incentive package had been approved by the state of Alabama.

ATHENS - Georgia Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart is getting his way about hosting recruits in Jacksonville - sort of. Two university sources confirmed to Dawg Post that the Bulldogs will be able to provide tickets to recruits for the annual game with the Florida Gators. However, the program and coaches will no interaction with recruits at the game.

Weaver City Work Session and City Council Meeting

Weaver, AL – The city council met for a regally scheduled work session and city council meeting on August 9th, 2022. The first subject discussed was the vision statement and SWOT analysis that Shelby Peterson with the East Alabama Planning and Development Commission is helping the city develop. A public hearing will be held on September 13th at 4:00pm to give members of the community an ability to speak on their vision for Weaver. There will also be a time at the regally scheduled work session on September 27th to discuss the vision statement and steps moving forward.

Alabama cabinet maker to create 415 jobs with $17M expansion

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) – A family-owned Alabama cabinet company plans to invest nearly $17 million in an expansion project that will create 415 jobs over five years. The state Department of Commerce said Tuesday in a news release that Ashland-based Wellborn Cabinet Inc. will build a 250,000-square-foot facility in Oxford to begin production of a new kitchen and bath cabinetry product.

Wellborn Cabinet Investing $17 Million in New Oxford Location

Oxford, AL– Oxford City Spokeswoman Lorie Denton shared that Wellborn Cabinet Inc., a family-owned manufacturer based in Ashland, plans to invest nearly $17 million in an expansion project headed to Oxford that will create nearly 400 jobs over five years. Wellborn is one of the largest cabinet makers in North America. Its new location will sit on 60 acres at the Oxford West Industrial Park, located on John Wills Drive.
