Dodge Challenger stolen from Dearborn Heights driveway

A red 2021 Dodge Challenger from reported stolen the morning of May 10 from the driveway of a house in the 5600 block of N. Highland Street in Dearborn Heights. The passenger side window was shattered and left on the driveway to gain entry. The car was stolen without its keys.

Detroit customs officers seize over 2,000 pounds of marijuana labeled as ‘pool toys’

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents in Detroit seized 2,175 pounds of marijuana labeled as “pool toys” earlier this month. The incident occurred at the Fort Street Cargo Facility after an x-ray scan of a tractor trailer and physical inspection revealed the illicit goods, which were concealed as “foam pool toys.” The marijuana and tractor trailer were subsequently seized.

Coalition calls for feds to resume oversight of Detroit Police Department

Detroit Police killings and use of force incidents have increased over the past two years, according to the Detroit-based Coalition for Police Transparency and Accountability. In a memo to the U.S. Justice Department, the coalition requests a federal investigation into what it calls “a pattern of killings and excessive force by the Detroit Police Department.” It wants the Justice Department to resume oversight of the department, which was under a federal consent decree from 2003 to 2016.
