COVID weekly update: Volusia, Flagler counties hit record number of weekly COVID-19 cases

Volusia and Flagler counties reported record numbers of new coronavirus cases this past week, according to the Florida Department of Health. Volusia County reported 5,683 new COVID-19 cases the week of July 23 to July 29, according to the FDOH. That's a 118% increase from the previous weekly record of 2,599 which occurred Jan. 1 through Jan. 8. of this year.
