WINSTON POLICE CHARGE MAN FOLLOWING ALLEGED ELUDE INCIDENT

Winston Police charged a man following an alleged elude incident on Monday night. Sergeant Mike Miller said at just before 10:30 p.m. an officer had a vehicle pass him at just over 100 miles-per-hour in a 55 mile-per-hour zone, in the area of Lookingglass Road and Abraham Avenue. Miller said the officer began pursuing the vehicle. It continued to speed down Lookingglass Road near Timothy before pulling into a driveway and stopping.

THREE CITED FOR LEASH LAW VIOLATIONS

Three people were cited for leash law violations by Roseburg Police on Monday. A Roseburg Police report said at 9:30 a.m. an officer drove into the area of Stewart Park below the disc golf course off of Northwest Stewart Park Drive. The officer’s vehicle was approached by numerous barking dogs. All were uncontrolled. This was in the same area where a disc golfer was bitten last week. Two people were contacted at their camp, where two of the dogs belonged. While the officer was in their camp, their other dogs were running around unsecured. A short time later a third person was contacted in another camp, which was where the other dogs belonged.

Police: Roseburg man uses traffic cone, orange vest, homemade sign to collect parking fees

ROSEBURG, Ore. — A 35-year-old Roseburg man was cited and charged with disorderly conduct on Saturday. According to a Roseburg Police Department report, investigation revealed the man used an orange traffic cone, an orange protective vest, and a homemade sign on the roadway in an attempt to collect parking fees (or donations) from customers of the Farmers Market, thereby blocking the roadway.

MAN TAKEN TO HOSPITAL FOLLOWING VEHICLE WRECK

A Riddle man was taken to the hospital following a single vehicle wreck on Sunday. A Roseburg Police report said at around 6:00 p.m. the 30-year old was reported to have crashed into a small brick divider before going into a store on Northwest Keasey Street and creating a disturbance. The suspect left the area and shortly after, crashed his vehicle into the sidewalk at the intersection of West Harvard Avenue and Northwest Stewart Parkway. That knocked his front driver side tire off the axle.

MAN HOSPITALIZED AFTER MOTORCYCLE WRECK

A Roseburg man was hospitalized after a motorcycle wreck on Saturday. An Oregon State Police report said at 4:45 p.m. the crash was reported on Interstate 5 northbound near the landfill exit. The 63-year old said he was cut off, causing him to swerve into the center divider to avoid a collision with an unknown vehicle. The man was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center for what appeared to be non-life- threatening injuries. He was transferred to Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield.

Music on the Half Shell features Texas rock and roll artist Emily Wolfe on Tuesday night. Wolfe started playing guitar at age 5 and has recently released her second album. This is the 30th anniversary season for the series, which takes place at the Nichol’s Band Shell in Roseburg’s Stewart Park. Along with the music, food trucks and other vendors have a number of dinner items available. Those attending can also bring their own meal, along with wine or beer as well. Half Shell concerts continue weekly through August 9th.

DRIVER CITED FOLLOWING ROLL OVER CRASH FRIDAY NIGHT

A driver was cited following a roll over crash Friday night in Winston. A report from Winston Police said just before 7:00 p.m. an officer arrived at the intersection of Main Street and Douglas Boulevard, following a report of the wreck. An investigation revealed that a Roseburg man was driving his SUV at an estimated thirty-five miles per hour when he ran the light while traveling southbound through the intersection. That vehicle hit a sedan, also driven by a Roseburg man, which was attempting to turn left onto Main Street.
