Steve Frank Dobson

Steve Frank Dobson was born in Glendive on July 19, 1961 to Arley (Red) and Irene (Entzel) Dobson. He was the youngest of four siblings, the baby of the bunch. As children, we grew up running around the south side of Glendive and in the Badlands of eastern Montana, which was located ½ a block from our parent’s house. He graduated from Dawson County High School in 1979.

James “Jim” Patrick Sullivan, age 82, of Richey, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021 at the Billings Clinic Hospital in Billings. A Life Tribute Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at the Silha Funeral Home in Glendive with Celebrant Heidi Carney officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Dawson County Cemetery. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Friday morning I heard the wailing of sirens from multiple sources. I immediately thought of fire or a terrible accident. The sirens went on and on. When I looked down Merrill Avenue, I saw the DCHS bus in the parade of emergency vehicles. It clearly was a full-scale community sendoff for the DCHS track team going to state.

DCHS graduates come together to celebrate their accomplishments

While the students started the year split up, going to school in the hybrid model, the Dawson County High School Class of 2021 was able to gather for the last time as classmates in a ceremony that would seem incredibly regular any other year, with few masks or any other pandemic-related restrictions in place. While the seniors faced many challenges throughout the year, Sunday’s ceremony focused on their ability to overcome those challenges, as well as remembering to cherish the things that we once took for granted.
