Celebrate the 4th Davie style with music, fireworks, parade, car & tractor show

Celebrate our country’s independence in Davie County this year. There will be fireworks, music, a parade and a car/tractor show to celebrate the nation’s 246th birthday. With live music followed by fireworks, this year’s Independence Day Celebration at the Davie County Community Park will be Saturday, July 2 at 6 p.m. at the park on 151 Southwood Drive, Mocksville.

New county manager hired on 3-2 vote

Davie County will have a new manager beginning in August. Brian Barnett was named to the job by county commissioners on a 3-2 vote at a special called meeting on Wednesday evening, June 22. The board has held several meetings in recent weeks, most in closed sessions going over applicants for the job.

DAVIE COUNTY, N.C. — A man was found dead in the front yard and a woman was found dead inside a North Carolina home on Sunday with two children unharmed. MOCKSVILLE (AP) — A man and woman have been found dead at a North Carolina home, while two children were found safe, according to a sheriff's office. The Davie County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded on Sunday to a report of a disturbance, WGHP reported. A 911 caller told dispatchers that someone was shooting at her, the sheriff's office said, adding that a dispatcher heard “a loud disturbance” over the phone.
