Paris, Ill. man dies in hay baling accident

PARIS, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Paris, Ill. man died Wednesday after getting stuck in the door of a hay baler while trying to fix the machine. Frank Hollingsworth, 86, was using the hay baler around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday night with another man when the two hit something in front and stopped the machine, an Edgar County Coroner’s Office Facebook post said. While trying to get rid of the obstruction, officials say the rear door shut on Hollingsworth.

Man sentenced to over 9 years in prison for armed robbery

URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — A 21-year-old Danville man is being punished with a 9.5-year prison sentence for robbing a Casey’s General Store while armed with a gun. A press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Central District of Illinois, says Courtland Rowell, Jr. was issued the sentence before Judge Colin Bruce.

Edgar County coroner: Man killed in hay baling accident

EDGAR COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — The Edgar County coroner said a Paris man is dead after a hay baling accident. In a Facebook post, Coroner Scott Barrett said 9-1-1 dispatchers were called around 7 p.m. on Wednesday night. The caller told them two men had been using a hay baler “when it stopped working due to an obstruction.” The men tried to fix it, but the rear door shut onto one of them.

Danville Fire Department Responds to A Structure Fire at 112 Motley Ave.

City of Danville Fire Department issued the following announcement on July 24. Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 112 Motley Ave. shortly before midnight. Units arrived to find a single story residence with moderate smoke showing from the front. The occupant was outside the structure when units arrived. Crews made entry and located a fire in the bedroom. Crews extinguished the fire and contained a small amount of fire that had extended to the attic of the structure.
